During World War I, North Central College participated in the U. S. civil defense program including special classes of instruction on first aid, telegraphy, and food conservation and dietetics. North Central College also instituted a Student Army Training Corps unit in the fall of 1918. Due to the armistice of November 11, 1918, the SATC lasted only one instructional term. Following World War I, North Central College applied for the establishment of a Reserve Officers Training Corps. This is a photograph of that unit. The ROTC unit was discontinued in 1924.
