North Central College had four major literary societies in the years prior to 1917: the Philologians ("Philo") and the Cliosophic ("Clio") being the oldest and most venerable, Philorhetorian for German-speaking students, and the Laconian which served as apprenticeship for Philo and Clio. This photograph is of the Cliosophic Society from 1915 to 1916.
